Frank Moffett
About The Scholarship
The Frank Moffett Norwalk Lightning Scholarship is established to reward the hard work of two individuals that have dedicated themselves to the sport of track and field. A scholarship will be given to one senior at each high school: Norwalk High School AND Brien McMahon High School. Frank Moffett has been a staple of Norwalk athletics since the 1960s. Competing in football and track and field at Brien McMahon High School in the late 1960s, Frank continued his education and athletic career as a football player at Southern Connecticut State University. After graduating from Southern, he came back to Norwalk to begin a career in education. He taught at Norwalk High School for over 30 years. During that time, he served as the head coach of the boys and girls track teams at NHS, and he also did a short stint as the cross country coach. Coach Moffett is the only track coach in the history of Norwalk High School to win a team FCIAC championship doing so during the 1995 indoor track season. Coach Moffett continues to coach at Norwalk High School as a strength and conditioning coach, as well as the boys and girls throwing coach for both the indoor and outdoor track team. Coach Moffett has spent his life educating and coaching the youth of Norwalk. Applicant Qualifications
